Ask your MP to meet with you and support UNISON Fair Visa Campaign

Following months of campaigning and growing support amongst MPs, our campaign for visa justice for migrant health and care workers is now at a crucial stage – it's time to take action and get your MP on board.

UNISON migrant members across the UK, working across the social care and healthcare sectors, have been coming together to campaign to put an end to the exploitation of migrant workers working in social care.

UNISON members demand:

  • A certificate of common sponsorship, allowing migrant workers the freedom to work for any employer in the social care sector.

  • A reversal of the proposed increase to the qualifying period for Indefinite Leave to Remain for those already in the country.

  • A Fair Pay Agreement for care workers, ensuring that care work is a well-paid and respected profession.

On 10 June, hundreds of UNISON members held a demonstration at 10 Downing Street, the Home Office, and Parliament Square, where they voiced their concerns and demands to the government and called for a fairer immigration system and a stop to the retrospective ILR extension proposal.
