Care Workers for Change protesting pay cuts

Save care workers' pay – demand dignity in social care

Too many care workers are in poverty. Private and third sector providers too often drive down pay in order to win contracts from the council.

One provider, AFG, has cut pay for 'sleep-in' shifts, where care workers stay overnight in clients' homes to provide care and support. They're now paid below minimum wage for this work.

The Care Workers for Change campaign in the North West believes that our local councils must intervene to prevent providers from driving down conditions and to stop us losing even more dedicated care workers from the sector.

Will you ask your councillors to ensure that care workers are paid at least the national minimum wage for every hour they work?
