Time to care - email your councillor for ethical standards in homecare

To get started, enter your postcode and click "Participate".

Email your councillor and ask them to adopt ethical care standards in home care for vulnerable people.

In the summer of 2012 UNISON conducted a survey of homecare workers entitled 'Time to Care' to show the reality of the homecare work across the UK and to show the impact on the people who receive the care.

It showed a committed but poorly paid and treated workforce which is doing its best to maintain good levels of quality care in a system that is in crisis.

Poor terms and conditions for workers can help contribute towards lower standards of care for people who get homecare services.

Join our campaign to improve the standard of homecare. Let's make sure that some of the most vulnerable people in our society receive an improved standard of care, and that homecare workers' terms and conditions reflect the respect and value they deserve and give them the time and ability to do what they do best.

Email your Local councillor

We're asking all councils to adopt an Ethical Care charter when commissioning home care services - to make sure we provide quality levels of care for some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

If you receive a response from your local councillors please let us know what they said by emailing ethicalcare@unison.co.uk
