University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have announced that not only are they reinstating car parking charges for day staff, but they are driving up the cost to all day staff.

University Hospitals Birmingham UNISON Branch;

• strongly oppose the hike in charges which is 1% of salary. A price that staff will struggle in some cases, to afford. 
• In reality, this means a £5 rise per month for lowest paid staff, making their total cost per month £15.

These are the problems which staff currently face:

• Day staff queuing to find a space and having to wait for the night shift to finish.
• Staff having to arrive at work well before their start time just to find a space, sometimes not being able to park at all.
• Staff are paying more but experiencing no improvements.

As the West Midlands largest Trust, UNISON say they should be setting the right example. No reinstatement of staff parking charges, in line with other Trusts in the West Midlands!
