UNISON has found that many emergency care assistants working for South Western Ambulance Service (SWAST) are routinely taking on the work of band 4 profiles, but being paid at band 3. This needs to stop.
Emergency Care Assistants are key members of the ambulance service who are required to carry out duties that are crucial in supporting their senior colleagues as well as patients. Our message is clear - staff should be paid properly for the job they do and shouldn't be expected to carry out the duties of a higher-banded role whilst on lower pay.
