The recent humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza as a result of the Israeli state’s relentless bombardment and war crimes, and the ever-growing climate emergency have thrown a spotlight on how Local Authorities invest their pensions funds. Across the UK, campaigns are building to urge council pension funds to divest millions of pounds from companies that facilitate and enable Israel's grave breaches of international law, are complicit in/profit from the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank and that are fuelling the climate crisis.
THE TIME TO DIVEST IS NOW!
We believe that the Strathclyde Pension fund, which is made up of public money and the deferred wages of public sector workers, should not be used to fund, prop up or profit from genocide, war crimes, human rights abuses, occupation, death and the destruction of our planet. Properly planned ethical investment can ensure that the scheme is healthy and that its financial and fiduciary obligations are met.
Join the campaign to make Strathclyde Pension Fund divest from companies that are complicit in the genocide in Gaza, and in climate breakdown by emailing your local councillor and the councillors who sit on the pension fund's board.
