The University of Hertfordshire wants to increase parking charges by 50%, hitting staff and students who are already struggling to get by.

Unless we do something about it, increased fees will come in from 1 August and then go up an extra 5% every year until 2030.

Increases will be particularly hard to bear for cleaners, receptionists and other low-paid staff who are expected to be on campus every day. They will hit disabled staff and students or those with children.

And this attack on staff and students comes as the university sits on reserves of more than £90 million.
