A Fair Pay Agreement for Care Staff in Wales is at risk of being delayed by years if we don't take action now.

Welsh devolution means that the responsibility for social care is devolved to Welsh Government. Senedd members have a choice to make 15 July on whether to allow UK Government to legislate on behalf of care staff in Wales as part of a Fair Pay Agreement, or whether a framework should be set up in Wales.

We understand the appeal of setting up our own framework in Wales, but this could mean a significant delay to any fair pay agreement for care workers in Wales.

Care workers cannot afford to wait, and neither can our care sector which is facing a recruitment crisis.

There is a real risk on July 15th is that Senedd Members will take a principled stand for devolution, but end up costing care staff across Wales thousands of pounds. We cannot let this happen.
