The East of England Ambulance Service Trust has announced plans to shut down its emergency call centre in Bedford, jettisoning call handlers and dispatchers who have built up skills and local knowledge over more than 1,000 years’ collective service.
All emergency calls would move to Norfolk and Essex, where already stretched staff have less grip of the local area, hitting the quality of service they can provide to those who need help.
Sign the petition to oppose the plan to axe Bedford’s emergency operations centre. Call on the government to step in and block the proposals, and make sure the East of England Ambulance Service has the resources to keep all three EOCs running.
