A decent pay rise for support staff and a halt to job cuts at the University of Staffordshire

Tell the University of Staffordshire that ‘Enough is Enough’, support staff deserve a decent pay rise!

Professional support staff are cleaners, administrators, assistants, maintenance, security, caters, student support, deal with enrolment and more. They are relatively low earners and have contributed to keeping the University of Staffordshire operating successfully and safely through difficult times, but they are being under-valued.  This has forced a ballot for strike action.

These hard workers will get NO pay rise from August 2025 to July 2026, and then 1.4% from July to August 2026 – well below high inflation.

In addition, there have been continual job cuts increasing workloads and significantly reducing pensions.  This has brought more stress at work and the dread of a poorer retirement.  Support staff should receive a decent pay rise and good working conditions.

The student experience and University facility standards have started to decline because of job cuts.

This will affect student numbers and spending in the local economy,  adversely affecting University income and staff wages.   Job cuts mean higher unemployment in the region and a greater reliance on benefits, an unhealthy downwards spiral.

We urge you to sign this petition, asking for a decent pay rise for professional support workers and save local jobs.
