Operating threatre staff in Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have just been hit with a pay cut.
They used to be paid overtime for shifts at time and half, in line with national agreements. But earlier this year the trust decided to scrap overtime rates, leaving experienced staff up to £120 worse off a shift.
It undermines dedicated staff who go above and beyond to provide lifesaving care. Restoring overtime rates will help maintain safe staffing, protect patient safety, and demonstrate genuine respect for hardworking staff.
Workers have tried to negotiate but the trust won’t listen. They will be forced to strike unless the trust sees sense. Tell the CEO and chair of the board of governors: don’t cut staff pay, restore the overtime rates.
