Tell Boris Johnson there is nowhere left to hide on care workers pay

Care workers pay is already a national scandal. And now they face another insult.

Not only do most care workers not earn a living wage, many are paid even less than the minimum wage for their overnight 'sleep in' shiftsInadequate legislation and lack of funding has left the sector in chaos, and it's low-paid care workers who are paying the price.

A system that relies on paying skilled staff a pittance is broken. The government have sidestepped their responsibility for too long. Enough is enough. The Prime Minister must show leadership and do what is right. Care needs reform, and reform must start with fair pay.

We are calling on the government to urgently:

  • Legislate to ensure care workers are paid at least the minimum wage for every hour of their sleep-in shifts. They must swiftly set out clear guidance for the sector, to guard against any opportunistic attacks on existing pay.
  • Ensure care workers are paid the real living wage, by making the right funding available, as a priority, immediately.
  • Find the political will to give the care system the overhaul it so desperately needs.

Sign the petition to show your support for care workers and send a message to our Prime Minister - the care system is broken, fixing it must be a priority.
